It's great that Staten Island has more and more interesting restaurants. Dinner last night at The Richmond with some family members was delightful. The Richmond is billed as an American bistro. It's located on Bay Street, across the street from Vinum (see blog entry of July 18, 2021), and is owned by the same person.
We sat at the outdoor patio, which is spacious and lovely. For starters, we shared an Artisan Cheese Board, which included three excellent cheese selections, fig jam, olives, poached pears, peppadew and pepperoncini peppers, walnuts, and toasts.
For my main course, I ordered the special: Cheese Tortellini with Shrimp (in a creamy tomato sauce). It was perfectly made, full of flavor, and exactly what I had hoped for.
Others at the table had the Salmon (with Dijon mustard, Brussels sprouts and herbed red potatoes) - “Excellent,” and the Richmond Burger (on brioche with brandy aioli)- “Love the caramelized onions.”
For dessert, I had this nicely-presented, tasty cheesecake.
The food is fresh and well-executed. Service is great, too. The menu is interesting and creative. I look forward to trying more dinners at The Richmond in the near future.
