On the occasion of my husband’s birthday, we braved freezing temperatures, heavy traffic, and a difficult parking situation to go to Meadowsweet Restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
I looked up the menu on the restaurant’s website and knew exactly what I was going to order.
But, unfortunately, none of the things I wanted were on the menu they gave us at the restaurant. That’s a pet peeve of mine: why aren’t online menus updated?
Anyhow, it all worked out. Everything we did order was wonderful.
We began the meal by sharing a starter of noodles topped with shaved Perigord truffles. I’ve had truffles before and really liked them, but these had an intense earthy, pungent taste and aroma that made me appreciate them even more.
For the main course, we both had crispy skin Scotch salmon with potatoes, fennel, and a creamy sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was sublime.
We ended the meal with maple creme caramel with raspberries and candied pecans - a delicious flan-like dessert. The candied pecans were so good, that I promised myself to make them at home soon.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all!
Meadowsweet has been on our “restaurant wish list for a while”.
So happy you paved the way to celebrate his birthday! Marsha
